Newsletter #69 - H1 Finished

We’re halfway the year

The good thing about living in Europe is seasonality. It makes me realize the incredible speed at which time passes

It seems only a couple of weeks ago when temperatures were below freezing. Now it’s 34 degrees.

I’m still doing projects, I have 2 current clients - albeit one dormant - and 1 new client in Amsterdam from Wednesday onwards

The plan is to grow this. To grow more clients, and get more projects, and have more people do the work while I focus on sales.

And eventually build products which solves the recurring problems we see

I prefer to focus on sales, on pitching ideas, on doing workshops and trainings as a means of getting my food in the door

Hence I’m writing a small course in ai, to publish as an e-book, a YouTube series, maybe TikTok.

And use that to try to sell training at local companies. And after the training maybe help them implement projects

The only downside is that it’s not a very remote first approach, which is still the end goal: a business I can operate from anywhere in the world

Why training? Because the tech sphere is very very crowded. Everyone can solve your tech problem - especially in the ai era - but not everyone can explain it, let alone teach.

That’s the plan. The first half of the year is over. I’m still hustling (and burning cash) but I strongly believe we’re building the start of something big!

H2 is going to be amazing!

Newsletter #70 - Massive Pain! I ran into my bicycle pedal while doing a sprint triathlon last weekend. I rode a mountainbike (while everyone had a racebike) and was a little too aggressive in the transition area It gave me the opportunity to test the Dutch emergency healthcare on the weekend. They did a good job! Injured! Contrary to the title, it doesn't hurt at all and hence it's business as usual today And business as usual it was! It's Friday 29 August, the roads are busy. Schools start...

Newsletter #68 - More Turmoil! The end of April was the deadline I set myself to find a freelance rol. It colminated in a quite dramatic nogo on the Unilever freelance role, and a first Upwork project I would start searching for employee roles from May 1st onwards The Upwork project gives the opportunity to postpone just a little longer I need to find another project - can't bet on one horse - either on Upwork, but preferably via other channels. Upwork is where I compete with others. Doing...

Newsletter #67 - Turmoil! I was pushing back my April newsletter, because a professional change was upon me I'm not sure why that means I have to push back writing? Excitement, Anticipation, Busy-ness? Anyway, the change didn't materialise A very promising interview for a freelance role at Unilever ended in ... The role being withdrawn for Juristic Reasons Whatever that may mean I don't know, and it's frustrating to not get clear responses, but by now I'm smarter than trying to keep digging:...
